It was composed at the same time as he resumed the composition of ‘La Damnation of Faust’.‘Zaïde’ is presented as a bolero and Berlioz's only score involving castanets. Dutch arranger Marc Koninkx transcribed ‘Zaïde’ for soprano and Symphonic Band.
