Giacomo da Lentini was a 13th century Italian poet who was a notary at the court of the Holy Roman Emperor Frederick II and is said to have invented the sonnet. Lentini’s Ballad is based on the famous poem ‘Amor è un desio che ven da core’ (Love is a desire that comes from the heart). It sounds great as an instrumental work, but there is also an option for a vocal version using the Italian lyrics of the poem, making the arrangement even more special!

Giacomo da Lentini was een dertien-eeuwse Italiaanse dichter. Hij was notaris aan het hof van de Duitse keizer Frederik II en geldt als de uitvinder van het sonnet. Lentini’s Ballad is gebaseerd op het beroemde gedicht Amorè un desio che ven da core (liefde is een verlangen dat uit het hart komt). Het werk is instrumentaal gezien al prachtig, maar u kunt het ook van zangers voorzien die de originele Italiaanse dichtregels voor hun rekeningnemen.

Giacomo da Lentini war ein Dichter des 13. Jahrhunderts; er war Notar am Hofe des römisch-deutschen Kaisers Friedrich II. und gilt als der Erfinder des Sonetts. Lentini’s Ballad basiert auf dem berühmtem Gedicht Amor è un desio che ven da core (Liebe ist ein Verlangen, das von Herzen kommt). Das Werk klingt instrumental wunderbar, optional kann aber auch eine Version mit Gesang (mittlere Stimmlage) zu den originalen italienischen Versen aufgeführt werden.

Lentini’s Ballad s’inspire du célèbre poème, Amor è un desio che ven da core (L’amour est un désir qui vient du coeur), de Giacomo da Lentini, un des plus éminents poètes de l’École sicilienne du XIIIe siècle. La version instrumentale, signée Jacob de Haan, est absolument superbe. Il existe également une version vocale utilisant le texte original en italien. Cette ballade a été composée pour la Nuit de la Poésie, une soirée consacrée aux poèmes mis en musique par Jacob de Haan.

Lentini’s Ballad s’ispira al celebre poema Amor è un desio che ven da core di Giacomo da Lentini, uno dei più eminenti poeti della scuola siciliana del XIII° secolo. La versione strumentale di questo poema d’amore è semplicemente splendida. Ne esiste anche una versione vocale che utilizza il testo originale in italiano. Questa ballata è stata composta per la Notte della Poesia, una serata dedicata ai poemi e tradotta in musica da Jacob de Haan.
